Essaouira

Essaouira: the pearl of the Atlantic

Essaouira is a port and tourist city located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco. By the sea, its medina (old city) is protected by 18th-century ramparts, called Skala de la Kasbah and designed by European engineers. Dotted with old copper cannons, the fortifications offer ocean views. With their powerful trade winds, the city's beaches are ideal for surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Leaving the red city behind, you will head towards the coast to discover Essaouira, called the "Pearl of the Atlantic". Along the way, there will be the chance to discover how the famous argan oil is produced by visiting a local cooperative and admiring towering argan trees. Once in Essaouira, you can take a lovely tour of the city to discover the port with its fishing boats, the labyrinthine medina, the ebony carvers, the ramparts that embrace the city, the Kasbah district. Free time available for a nice walk on its endless beach, discover the daily life of its inhabitants and, why not, taste the delicious freshly caught fish and seafood!
